Our Mission

Our mission is to alleviate the emotional, financial, and collective burdens faced by our officers, their families, and those in the community we serve.  To Serve and protect those in need extends beyond the boundaries that are qualified by the law.  We serve our officers, their family members, and our community, through any means of support available to us.  We protect the same by assuaging their worries, needs, and stress; all the while empowering them to carry on.

The West Bloomfield Police Foundation was established in 2001 as a 501 (c) (3) Charity.  Since then the foundation has been extremely effective in helping those within the police department, those within our community and those in surrounding communities. The Foundation has formed lasting/continuing partnerships with local businesses and community leaders who have helped catapult our fundraising efforts. The foundation is very grateful for everyone's support as we realized in September of 2012 why we exist and why we are needed.

In September of 2012 the West Bloomfield Police Department suffered a loss with the on-duty death of Sgt. Patrick O'Rourke.  Because of donations to the foundation, from folks such as you, we were able to help Pat's family by relieving them of their immediate financial burdens.

Sgt. Patrick O'Rourke, a 12-year veteran of the West Bloomfield Police Department, was shot and killed in the line of duty on Sunday, September 9th, 2012. Officer O'Rourke is mourned as a fallen hero, who selflessly devoted his life to the safety and protection of the West Bloomfield community.

He is survived by his beloved wife Amy; his loving children, Eileen, Mary, Andrea and Stephen, his parents J. Daniel and Arlene O'Rourke, his brothers; Richard B(Susie) O'Rourke, Daniel (Laura) O'Rourke, Scott (Anna) O'Rourke; his mother and father-in-law Stephen and Linda Corry, Grandfather, Arthur Corry, his brother and sister in laws; Charles (Christina) Corry, Ian (Alisha) Corry, Kyle (Ashley) Corry, Hallie Corry and Jonathon (Kristie) Corry.
